With all the summer sunshine comes a lot of activities outdoors and involving dirt! Whether you’re out hiking or gardening, chances are you will get some mud on your clothing. So don’t fret about tracking it into your home, we’ve got all the ways to remove dirt and mud from your floors, furniture and clothing.
Carpet or rugs:
Allow the mud to dry completely. Believe it or not, this makes it easier to remove. Then vacuum up as much as you can from the spot. If there is any remaining stain, use a damp cloth or toothbrush to scrub the spot with a little soap or detergent. Once the stain is removed rinse the area by alternating between a damp cloth and a dry one. Finish by blotting the area dry.
Upholstered furniture:
Similar to carpet, allow the mud to dry and vacuum up as much as possible. Dampen down the area with water from a spray bottle or wet cloth. Using a bit of detergent, we recommend Biz Stain & Odor Eliminator, use a soft bristle brush or toothbrush to scrub the spot. Biz’s mix of enzymes is designed to easily break down organic material such as dirt. Moisten or spray the area again and blot to remove the soap. Dry by blotting with a clean towel.
Clothing:
Again, allow the mud to dry completely. Once dried, scrape it off as much as possible using a dull knife or flat edge. Next, rub on a stain fighter and allow it to sit. Biz Stain & Odor Eliminator is great for this as well. You can use a toothbrush or soft bristle brush to make sure all of the mud is covered by the stain remover. Don’t forget to scrub both sides of the fabric! Then wash your garments per washing instructions on the tag. If the stain is not fully removed, repeat until it is gone then dry.
